A new service for Veterans and their families living in the NHS Tayside area

The Scottish Government wants people who have served in the Armed Forces to have better access to NHS services. This includes "priority treatment" where the illness is thought to be service related, and to better understand Veterans, their needs and their ability to access a broad range of services.

The Veteran First Point (V1P) model is a combination of mental health professionals and Veterans with personal experience of military life, working in partnership with local Veterans' agencies and organisations. Developed initially in Lothian, the model is now rolling out to a number of other health boards across Scotland, including Tayside.

The principle access point to the service in Tayside will be the Tayforth Veterans' Project (TVP) at 21b City Quay in Dundee. Access to other premises in Perth and Angus will be negotiated to provide an equivalent drop-in service in each locale. The contact details are:

Veterans can self-refer by accessing the Tayforth Veteran Project Drop-in between the hours of 9.30am-1pm Monday to Friday or by telephoning between the hours of 9am-5pm Monday-Friday on 01382 206207.
