NHSScotland is improving the way it uses information from GP patient records

The way information from GP patient records is used to help plan health and care services in Scotland is improving.

SPIRE (Scottish Primary Care Information Resource) is a service that has been developed to help GPs, the NHS in Scotland and researchers learn from information held at GP practices.

Being able to use this information will mean NHSScotland can improve the quality of care, better plan services for people with health needs and support research into new treatments.

You have a choice about your patient record being used in this way. To find out more or how to opt out, please see the SPIRE leaflet, go to spire.scot or call NHS Inform on 0800 22 44 88. SPIRE is also on Twitter @SPIREScotland.
