Carnoustie Medical Group Appointment System

We continue to experience a high volume of GP appointment requests on a daily basis and have changed our appointment system to deal with these more efficiently and fairly. Please read the following carefully to ensure you are given the correct care. We are committed to giving appropriate care to our patients and need to prioritise patients according to medical need.

To simplify access, there are now 2 routes to making a GP appointment. These are as follows:

  1. If you feel you require an urgent appointment the same day please call the practice after 8am and give as much information as possible to enable the admin team to direct your call. A GP will review this information and either call you back or ask admin staff to call you to make an appropriate appointment either over the phone or face to face or direct you to a more appropriate source of care e.g dentist, pharmacy, physio.
  2. If you require a routine GP appointment, which is anything that does not need attention the same day, please fill in an eConsult form. If you do not have access to a computer you can collect a form from reception or one of the admin team can assist you in person or by phone to provide the required information.

Unfortunately due to current demand, all access to routine or emergency GP appointments will now be through the GP team. This means that the GP will look at the provided information first then issue the most appropriate appointment type. The best way to provide required information is by using eConsult. On many occasions, the GP will be able to provide a direct response and treatment plan to you by email or text.

Pharmacy First

Please also make use of the pharmacy first programme and remember that eConsult can also signpost to other more suitable services and NHS inform has lots of useful information. We support the Government’s Right Care, Right Place ethos.
